HFBC Coronavirus Update

HFBC Family and Friends,

As your church staff, we are daily working through issues created for us as a church family by the Coronavirus. Our goal is to find ways to see that the ministry of HFBC continues in a way that helps keep us all both physically and spiritually healthy.

We want you to know we are seeking God’s leadership in this matter. We are doing our best to work through these issues and effectively communicate with you the plans and methods we believe God is leading us to implement.

We are praying for our church family, our community, as well as our local, state, and national leadership. Above all, we are praying for God’s intervention and glory in this very unusual time we are experiencing. We are confident you are doing the same.

We are also honoring the guidance of our President, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and other entities for us to practice social distancing and to limit public gatherings to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus. This is a significant factor in the decisions we are making as a church staff and in conjunction with other church leaders as necessary.

None of these decisions are being made out of fear or a lack of faith in God. Our decisions are being made out of concern for the wellbeing of others which is what it means to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39).  The fact of the matter is this - continuing with our regular schedule would be a much easier and convenient task for the staff and everyone else. Someone once said, “The better part of valor is discretion.” Similarly, we believe in times such as this the better part of faith is wisdom, good judgment, and selflessness by not doing what we prefer, but what is in the best interest of others.

None of us know how long we will be in these circumstances. With that being said, we want to share with you the plans we have in place through March 28.

Here are the ACTIVITIES THAT WILL TAKE PLACE for HFBC through March 28:

  • Sunday Morning Worship Online  @ 10:45

You can meet us for Online Worship at https://www.hixsonfirstbaptist.org. On the Home page of the HFBC website you will see the livestream video. Just click on that box to experience our online worship service.

  • Online Life Group Video

On Sunday morning, we will have a video featuring our Life Group Directors, Don and Patti Harris, as they lead a brief Life Group Bible study. The video will be approximately 10 minutes in length. It will appear as a YouTube video on the Home page of the HFBC website. You can watch it before or after the livestream of our worship service.

  • Wednesday Online Bible Study

I will lead a Bible study which will stream live at 6:15 Wednesday evening (March 18 & 25). It too may be viewed on the Home page of the HFBC website at https://www.hixsonfirstbaptist.org.

  • Church Office Open

The church office will be open per our regular schedule: Monday – Thursday, 8:30am – 4:30pm

We are here if you need someone to assist by going to the grocery store, pharmacy, doctor’s office, or other needs, etc. You can contact us by calling the church office (877-2467), or you can complete the CONTACT US card on the Home page of the HFBC website and then click SUBMIT. We will them contact someone to assist you.

  • Giving

Please be faithful in giving your tithes and offerings to the Lord through you church home. As a staff, we are taking measure to trim expenses as much as possible because we are aware the Coronavirus will have an impact of the income on many of our families. But our ministry continues to carry on albeit in a very different way than any of us have ever experienced before.  Remember, you can give your tithe and offerings by mailing them to the church office at 5800 Grubb Road, Hixson, Tennessee 37343; by delivering them to the church during regular office hours; by calling the office at 877-2467 and someone will come to you home and deliver your gift to the church office, or by using the Online Giving tab on our website - https://www.hixsonfirstbaptist.org and following the instructions which appear on your screen.
